Discovering the Namban Screen
Activity in the Connections exhibition
In this workshop-visit, participants are invited to explore a singular piece from the collection, starting from a pictorial detail of a Japanese Namban folding screen that depicts encounters between different cultures. The activity proposes an exercise in observation and imagination.
Based on the visible elements, participants are challenged to imagine and draw the continuation of the composition, creating figures, objects, and landscapes that complete the scene. Between what is seen and what is imagined, this proposal invites the creation of new narratives from a fragment, stimulating curiosity, interpretation, and visual expression.
