Guided tour: architecture, museology and landscape

The guided architectural tour of the Albuquerque Foundation offers an immersive experience in the relationship between architecture, museology, and landscape, while also addressing the museographic principles that guided the creation of the museum. The project, developed by the Bernardes Arquitetura studio, highlights the dialogue between the new and the existing, preserving the old house and integrating new volumes with contemporary lines. The intervention establishes a continuous conversation between the exhibition spaces and the garden designed by the Topiaris studio reinforcing the integration between architecture and nature.

The tour will be led by architect Heloisa Vivanco, who oversaw the museum’s construction and is currently part of the operations and production supervision team. Throughout the visit, the architect invites participants to reflect on the multiple dimensions of the project: the structural challenges of the building process; the integration between the collection spaces and exhibition architecture; the organisation of circulation; the ways of welcoming and preserving a collection of this scale; and the responses to the demands of a high-standard museum infrastructure, in which every detail reflects the dialogue between technique, sensitivity, context, and elegance.
