Experience
Located within Sintra’s context, defined by a unique climate and outstanding UNESCO-recognized landscapes, history and culture, the Albuquerque Foundation was conceived to offer visitors a pleasant all-around experience.
Restaurant
Visitors can enjoy lunchtime dishes served at Albú delibar & bakery, or accompany a wide range of gourmet coffees, teas and natural wines with bread and pastries that come out of the oven throughout the day.
Library
Alongside his passion for ceramics, Renato de Albuquerque has gathered an extraordinary library of over 1600 volumes throughout the decades. Most are available to visitors, while the rarest can be consulted by appointment at the Foundation’s storage spaces.
Garden
The gardens of the former eighteenth-century Quinta de São João were refurbished according to the original design. The aim was to preserve the existing elements, such as mature trees, shrubs and protected species. Whenever possible vegetation was transplanted, always according to sustainability principles conducive to easy maintenance, conservation of the botanical heritage and low-impact paving.
