About the Artists
In her work, Wanda Miller seeks to use the materiality of clay to reflect the visual irregularities and the organic, spontaneous forms found in nature. She starts off with an idea of form, stretching and stratifying the clay while allowing the material to dictate its own expression, thus obtaining unique variations with a textured pattern. She opened Persson & Miller Ceramics Studio in 2022.
After graduating at the Madrid School of Visual Arts and Design in 1996, she went on to specialize in artisanal sculpture and kiln techniques, such as raku and reduction kilning, at the Moncloa School of Ceramics.
In the piece CORTEX, Miller avoided interfering on the natural texture and organic quality of the clay, allowing its edges to form concentric circles and patterns reminiscent of the protective layers of trees and their spontaneous growth rings
