Raku presentation and firing ceremony by ceramic artist Yishai Simon

Keshiki 景色 presents works by ceramic artist Yishai Simon, developed through more than twenty years of research and practice in ceramics and the Japanese Raku technique.

At the centre of its opening on 3 October is a live Raku firing ceremony, inviting visitors to witness the final stage of the ceramic process as glazed vessels are removed from the kiln and transformed in real time through heat, smoke, and cooling. The firing process produces distinctive surfaces, textures, and marks that are unique to each piece.

Working with clay, wheel throwing, and Raku firing, Yishai combines traditional techniques with a contemporary approach to form and material. His practice is rooted in careful attention to process, surface, and craftsmanship, exploring the relationship between intention, unpredictability, and transformation.

The works revealed during the firing will form the core of the presentation, offering visitors a direct encounter with the material processes at the heart of ceramic practice.

About Yishai Simon (Naiim Pottery)

Yishai Simon is a ceramic artist and art therapist. Since childhood, he has found in the arts a space of silence and introspection, where the creative process becomes a form of language and personal expression.

Clay is at the heart of his work: its form, colours, and textures spark his curiosity and inspire new creations. Through gesture and movement, Yishai explores the beauty of the imperfect, giving life to amorphous and unique pieces.

He lives and works in Portugal, where he runs his own studio. He leads seminars and workshops in Portugal, Israel, and various other countries, and his work is also showcased in design galleries and international exhibitions. In parallel, he develops art therapy projects, bringing together artistic creation and human development.
