Raku firing ceremony by ceramic artist Yishai Simon

To mark the closing of Keshiki 景色, a project by Yishai Simon (Naiim Pottery), another live Raku firing ceremony will take place, inviting visitors to witness the final stage of the ceramic process. The glazed pieces are removed from the kiln and transformed by the effects of heat, smoke and cooling. This process creates distinctive surfaces, textures and marks, making each piece unique.

Keshiki 景色 is a project by the Albuquerque Foundation’s Artist Ceramics Shop, which forms part of its mission to promote and showcase both historical and contemporary ceramic production. The initiative presents works by ceramic artist Yishai Simon, developed over more than twenty years of research and practice in ceramics and the Japanese Raku technique.

About Yishai Simon (Naiim Pottery)

Yishai Simon is a ceramic artist and art therapist. Since childhood, he has found in the arts a space of silence and introspection, where the creative process becomes a form of language and personal expression.

Clay is at the heart of his work: its form, colours, and textures spark his curiosity and inspire new creations. Through gesture and movement, Yishai explores the beauty of the imperfect, giving life to amorphous and unique pieces.

He lives and works in Portugal, where he runs his own studio. He leads seminars and workshops in Portugal, Brazil, and various other countries, and his work is also showcased in design galleries and international exhibitions. In parallel, he develops art therapy projects, bringing together artistic creation and human development.
