Performance The Black Monks

On the occasion of the opening of the Theaster Gates’ solo show, the artist will perform with The Black Monks – an experimental music collective freely inspired in a series of musical and cultural traditions. The sound of The Black Monks is rooted in black South US music, such as blues and gospel, but it is also linked to Eastern ascetic practices and the great tradition of twentieth-century experimental music.
